Students here at Cuillier Career Center must adhere to their home based school’s uniform policy. (Exceptions include: Cosmetology, Medical/Nursing, Barbering,Welding, & Dental Assistants)
Helen Cox High School
At Helen Cox High School, uniforms are mandatory.
Shirts: Ninth grade shirts are gold with the school name and logo. Upperclassmen must wear red uniform shirts. Seniors may wear the optional Black senior shirt. Shirts other than Helen Cox uniform shirts may not be worn at any time. (Exceptions must be approved by the principal.) Shirts must be worn tucked in at the waist so that the belt or waistband is visible. No altering of the uniform is allowed.
Pants: Pants must be khaki uniform pants. Pants are to be worn at the waist, belted, and fit the waist snugly. Loose fitting pants, baggy pants, cargo pants, and/or those worn low on the hips will not be tolerated. Oversized pants will be adjusted with plastic strip ties in the back for the day. Pants must be hemmed and splits are not allowed. Girls may wear Helen Cox plaid pants. In addition, pants that do not fit the waist prohibit the student from following the dress code and because such violations are not an accidental violation of the dress code policy but rather a deliberate attempt to circumvent the dress code; they will not be treated as uniform violations but rather as defiance of school rules. Therefore, students whose pants do not fit the waist will be sent home until new pants are purchased or the existing pants are altered to fit properly.
Jackets / Coats / Sweatshirts: Students may wear any Helen Cox or plain jacket, sweater, or sweatshirt that BUTTONS OR ZIPS THE LENGTH OF THE GARMENT IN FRONT. Any garment worn by pulling over the head must display the school logo.
Skirts: Skirts are not allowed.
Belts: Belts may be plain, solid tan, black or brown (no names, nicknames or logos) and must be able to fit through the belt loops.
Shoes: Shoes must be closed in with low heels (safety on stairs). Backless shoes, slippers or mesh type shoes are not allowed. All shoes must be worn in the manner for which they were designed. This means that shoes with laces are laced up entirely and tied. Shoes with straps, buckles, etc. are to be fastened securely at all times.
Socks: Socks must be solid red, white or black.
Undershirts: Undershirts may be red, white, or black, short or long-sleeved.
Fridays only: Students may wear Helen Cox club, team, or class t-shirts (tucked in) or hoodies, with uniform pants.
Earrings: Earrings larger than the size of a quarter are not allowed.
ADDITIONAL DRESS CODE RULES

No nose rings, or any body piercing jewelry except that which is worn in the ears
No thongs, slippers, or backless shoes, or any shoes with heels higher than 2 inches

No clothing, jewelry, etc., with suggestive words or pictures or anything else that can be considered disruptive to the learning process as determined by the administration
No political related clothing
No type of jewelry or apparel with studs or spikes
No excessively large earrings (Quarter size) or finger rings

John Ehret High School
The school uniform was developed by a committee of Parents, Students and Teachers. All students are to have shirts tucked in. No alterations to the uniform should be made. Students are not allowed to substitute other types of uniform pants or shirts.
DICKIES plain or pleated front, twill, DARK TAN KHAKI (No off color), straight-legged long pants. Female students have the option of wearing pants made from the “Ehret plaid” material. The style of the plaid pants must be the same as the Dickies pants.
Appropriate belt must be worn. (Webbed 1” military style belt in navy blue, black, red, white, or khaki with adjustable regulation size brass buckle is preferred. A dress belt of 1” black or brown leather is acceptable. Oversize buckles will not be allowed – NO LARGER THAN “2” INCHES WILL BE ACCEPTED.)
FEMALE students may choose to wear a skirt made from the “Ehret plaid.” material. The skirt must be either BOX PLEAT or WRAP PLEAT style, and no higher than 2” above the knee. NO STRAIGHT SKIRTS ALLOWED. SLITS IN PANTS OR SKIRTS NOT ALLOWED.
Official navy blue pique, short-sleeved or long-sleeved polo shirt with the embroidered Ehret logo.
Short/long-sleeved light blue oxford shirts with school logo may be worn. (They must be buttoned up and completely tucked in pants/skirt.) SHIRTS MUST BE WORN COMPLETELY TUCKED IN THE PANTS OR SKIRT so that the belt is completely visible. Shirts must not be too tight and of proper length. No shirts will are allowed to be worn over the uniform shirt.
Laced or slip-on dress shoes, as well as tennis shoes are standard wear. Socks must be worn. Open-toed shoes, backless shoes, high heels, slippers, boots, or sandals ARE NOT ALLOWED.
COLD WEATHER WEAR
Students may wear their own choice of heavy jacket, sweater, or sweatshirt that zips or buttons all the way down the front.
An official EHRET SWEATSHIRT may be worn over the Ehret uniform shirt. It must be worn outside the pants or skirt as long as the uniform shirt is tucked in.
Other pullover sweaters or sweatshirts WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE WORN OVER THE UNIFORM SHIRT.
Undershirts, t-shirts, thermal shirts, etc. may be worn under the Ehret uniform shirt, but must be completely tucked in.
“Trench coats”, all loose-fitting, oversize coats will not be allowed.
Female students may wear solid colored tights (black, navy, white, or nude) under skirts.
An official Ehret knit cap may be worn only during cold weather. Other caps, hats, visors, bandannas, rags, headbands, or hoods ARE NOT ALLOWED.
WEARING OF CLUB/ORGANIZATION/TEAM SHIRTS
Students may wear John Ehret-based, official club, class, or organization shirts on Fridays. Athletic team members may wear uniform tops, with their coaches’ permission on game days. Wrestling and track members may wear team sweatshirt tops, but they must be worn over the John Ehret uniform shirt. Students must adhere to the John Ehret Dress Code Policy. All shirts/jerseys must be tucked into regular school uniform pants.
OTHER DRESS CODE GUIDELINES
In addition to the uniform policy, all students are expected to adhere to a dress code policy. The dress code has been established to maintain a school climate that is conducive to learning and to limit distractions and disruptions to the learning process.
Students will NOT be allowed to wear the following items:
*Any school uniform that has been inappropriately altered
*Pants legs that are rolled up
*Pants that begin below the waist, don’t reach the ankles, and/or are unhemmed
*Hats, caps, hoods, headbands, or bandannas at any time (do not bring these to school), unless it is an approved hat sold by the school for cold weather only.
*Any body-piercing jewelry except that which is worn on the ears
*Sunglasses worn indoors
*Hair rollers, rat tail combs, picks
*Unpatriotic words or pictures on clothing or accessories
*Clothing depicting any design or insignia not approved by the school
*Clothing or accessories depicting any off-campus fraternity, sorority, or other club or group design or insignia not approved by the school
*Clothing, accessories, or jewelry depicting violence, blood, knives, guns, skulls, drugs, etc.
*Clothing, accessories, or jewelry with alcohol or drug references and/or suggestive wording, pictures, or anything that could be considered disruptive to the learning process as determined by the administration, including pictures of persons associated with violence or drugs
*Politically related clothing or accessories (This includes items for past politicians)
*Excessively large rings or rings covering more than one finger
*Cloth or fabric book bags, tote bags, back packs, department store bags, or any non-see-through bags (Only clear or mesh bags are permitted)
*Any type of chain or jewelry deemed inappropriate or unsafe as determined by the administration—No thick chains; no earrings or medallions larger than a quarter
*Any type of jewelry or apparel that has protruding studs or spikes
*Any apparel which is deemed gang-related by the Police Department and/or the administration
*Clothing, accessories, or jewelry depicting any music groups or individual musicians
DRESS CODE AND PICTURES FOR DANCES
FORMAL DANCES – Boys will wear suits or tuxedos. Girls will wear formal length dresses. Bare midriffs or revealing clothing will not be allowed.
SEMI-FORMAL DANCES – Boys will wear dress slacks, dress shirts with a tie or sweater or a coat. Girls will wear semi-formal length dresses. Bare midriffs or revealing clothing will not be allowed.
CASUAL DANCES – boys will wear dress pants or denim jeans. Faded, torn, or ragged jeans will not be allowed. Girls may wear Capri pants that are below the knee. Shorts are not allowed for anyone. Shirts will be button-down or polo. T-shirts, tank tops, muscle shirts, halter tops, spaghetti straps, shirts that show the midriff, the back, are see-through, or are immodest will not be allowed. Skirts and dresses may not be more than 2” above the knee.
ALL DANCES – No student will be allowed to wear hats, caps, rags, headbands, or bandannas. DANCE PICTURES – Any student showing a gang sign or obscene gesture will forfeit the right to the pictures and will not receive a refund. The student may also face disciplinary action.
Fisher Middle/High School
Pants must fit a natural waistline. No low rise pants allowed. Pants must be a uniform style pants (i.e. Dickie not limited to). Khaki color only. They must have fly front, and belt loops. No drawstring waist or elastic waist pants are allowed.
No oversized pants will be allowed. No pants worn at the hips allowed. No multi-zipper, parachute-type pants, no zip-off legs or pants with colored trim.
SPIRIT DAY: Fisher class shirts, club shirts, spirit shirts or sports jerseys may be worn on Fridays. Mr. Hebert must have approved all shirt designs before being ordered.
Only FHS pullover, sweatshirt or hoodies are allowed. When a FHS pullover, sweatshirt or hoodie is worn a FHS uniform shirt must be underneath.
Any type of zipper, button, or snap coat may be worn on cold days with a FHS uniform shirt underneath
Boys may wear knee length shorts during the 1st and 4th nine weeks period only. Khaki color only. Shorts must have a hem.
Girls may wear knee length Bermuda shorts during the 1st and 4th nine weeks only. Khaki color only
Girls may wear a uniform knee length skirt. They are allowed to wear fitted tights or leggings underneath (black, gray, or neutral color only). No sweatpants are to be worn under skirts.
Undershirts must be tucked in. No long sleeve shirts may be worn beneath or above the uniform shirt.
No backless shoes or sandals are allowed. No open-toed shoes are allowed and heels must be completely covered. No “crocs” allowed. No slippers allowed.
No baseball caps can be worn on campus. A sweater cap or hood may worn be outside only during cold months.
A student will not wear jewelry or accessories that create a distraction or a safety hazard. With the exception of pierced earrings worn in the ear lobe, a student will not wear any visible body piercing studs, ring, or hoops, i.e. nose, lip, or eyebrow piercing.
Violation of the dress code will result in the following:
1st offense = change clothes and contact parent
2nd offense – change clothes, contact parent, and lunch detention
3rd offense = change clothes, contact parent, and after school detention
4th offense = change clothes, contact parent, and a ISS will be issued
PE Uniforms can be purchased from the PE Department.
Frederick Douglass Academy for Career Preparation
Shirts- Hunter Green Polo with the School Logo & Mascot-(Eagle)
Pants- Gray pants with NO CELL PHONE POCKETS. Girls may wear grey skirts no more than 2 inches above the knee and may not be tight fitting.
*Pants must fit properly. Pants must fit on the waist. Pants must be hemmed. No cut or unhemmed pants allowed.
*Shirt must be tucked in at all times.
*Belts must be worn. Belt buckles may not be larger than 2 inches.

L.W. Higgins High School
· DRESS CODE
Students must follow all policies and procedures described in the Jefferson Parish Public School Procedures and Policies Handbook as well as the L.W. Higgins Discipline and Uniform Policies. Administrators may deviate from these policies due to extenuating circumstances.
NO ALTERING UNIFORMS IN ANY WAY. Examples: tying, pinning, sewing, etc.
Freshmen – Khaki (tan) knit shirts with “Freshmen Class” on logo.
Sophomores and Juniors – White or Navy knit shirts or dress oxford shirt
Seniors – White or navy knit shirts, dress oxford, or gold “Senior Class” knot shirts
Class shirts, club shirts, or team shirts (in season) may be worn on Friday’s only. Uniform pants must be worn (no warm-up pants).

The mandatory West Jefferson school uniform consists of the following:

Students may NOT wear the following to any dance: baseball caps, dresses that are sheer, dresses that reveal belly button, cleavage, or cut below middle of back. NO tight fitting clothing and excessively high cut slits in skirts or dresses. Gym dances: Casual clothing, pants, jeans, athletic shoes, sandals, t-shirts, polo shirts. NO shorts, mini skirts, rags, caps, hats, tube tops, halter tops, or tank tops.
